Building Humane Families

There's an exciting new partnership with the Wisconsin Humane Society and The Task Force on Family Violence of Milwaukee, Inc. aimed at strengthening relationships within families! Building Humane Families is a seven-week program being held weekly at the Wisconsin Humane Society that targets both two-legged and four-legged members of the family.

Studies show those who are abused as a child are more likely to be abusive as adults. Studies also show there is a link between animal abuse and human violence. Building Humane Families is a proactive effort to promote positive parenting and educate children about developing healthy relationships with others. As valued members of the family, animals play a vital role in the program by helping to promote important messages of empathy and kindness.

Families are referred by social service agencies; there is no charge for participants and transportation and child care are provided if needed.
