Be Kind to Animals Celebration

Be Kind to Animals Week 2008
Compassion in Action!

How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
- Anne Frank

Everyone can do their part to be kind to animals. From a kind word to taking care of your own animal companion to organizing a donation drive at your school, there are lots of ways to take action. Young people are eager to make a difference in the lives of animals. Participating in Be Kind to Animals Week activities is a great way to introduce students to animal-related advocacy. By creating a poster, writing a poem or taking a photograph to highlight ways that we can be kind to animals, kids can spread the word and do their part to make a difference for animals.

Be Kind to Animals Week is the oldest celebrated week in the nation! Recognized officially by the 108th Congress in 1915, this special week continues to remind us of the things animals do to enhance our lives. Each year the Wisconsin Humane Society encourages students and teachers to join our celebration. This year, we will host several events and it is not too early to start preparing for your involvement now!

These events will take place in honor of Be Kind to Animals Week, held May 4-10, 2008. Take some time to participate and celebrate the important part animals play in our lives. Click on the underlined contests to learn how to enter each specific contest.

Please be sure to read our guidelines before submitting an entry.

Each of these events recognizes a person’s ability to express and demonstrate kindness toward animals. For details about how to participate, click here.
