Emma Rose's Road to Recovery

Saukville, Wis. - She stepped off the PetSmart Charities® Rescue Waggin’® and hobbled into the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus. Just hours before, she was in an overcrowded shelter in Indiana. Emma Rose’s life was about to change.

But the 3-year-old Beagle/Hound mix was dragging a badly damaged leg behind her. Whether she got it caught in an animal trap, was hit by a car, or suffered some terrible accident, we'll never know, but her entire paw was missing. The rest of her leg hurt, and was getting worse. WHS veterinarian Dr. Zeman knew that full leg amputation was Emma Rose's best chance for a long and healthy life.

Emma Rose was able to get the surgery she needed at the Ozaukee Campus and will hopefully be available for adoption around Valentine’s Day. And like all of the dogs at WHS, Emma Rose will stay in adoption as long as it takes to find her a loving family.

The Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus has launched a fund raising campaign to raise the funds necessary to cover Emma Rose's surgery. To make a contribution, visit www.ozaukeehumane.org.
