Overview:

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is an animal welfare organization whose mission is to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness. WHS provides temporary animal shelter to thousands of stray, abandoned and injured animals each year. The largest animal shelter in Wisconsin , WHS is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

? Specialized adoption services to match homeless companion animals with new families
? Follow up and support for new companion animal guardians
? A wildlife rehabilitation program and hospital
? A spay/neuter clinic for low-income families
? Veterinary care for more than 10,000 shelter animals, including spaying and neutering.
? Education for children and adults to respect and care for animals including important recommendations to reduce pet overpopulation and neglect and abuse
? Companion animal visits to brighten the lives of residents in local care facilities (pet assisted therapy)
? Manners classes to assist dog guardians and create good canine citizens
? Companion animal and wildlife behavior telephone tip lines and one-on-one counseling
? Rescue Waggin' transport program to rescue dogs from overpopulated shelters
