Heroic
Dog Saves Family but Loses Home
MILWAUKEE
– Stitch came to the Wisconsin Humane Society
under extraordinary circumstances. The 4-year-old
Terrier mix literally saved her family from a fire
that nearly took their lives. When a fire broke
out in her home, Stitch alerted her family in time
for them to safely evacuate the blazing house. The
fire damaged their home so extensively that it was
uninhabitable. Unable to find a landlord who would
allow dogs, the family brought their hero to WHS
in hopes that Stitch would have a second chance
in a safe and loving home.
It is hard to
imagine how difficult it was for Stitch to be surrendered
after saving her family from a devastating fire,
yet she is a happy and optimistic girl. As a guest
in Corgi Court at WHS, Stitch's personality has
attracted a lot of attention. Volunteer dog walkers
note that she loves to be outside, is an attentive
listener and revels in belly rubs. She is sweet
and good natured with everyone. Stitch loves to
fall asleep while being petted, revealing her trusting
nature.
After saving
her family, it's Stitch's turn to be the recipient
of compassion. She has been spayed, microchipped
and vaccinated and is available for adoption. For
more information about Stitch, please call the Wisconsin
Humane Society at (414) ANIMALS .
