Children Graduate with Doggie Diplomas

MILWAUKEE – Ever try training your pooch how to sit or shake? Although seemingly easy, these can be time-consuming and demanding tasks. However, 11 children were up for the challenge as they participated in the Wisconsin Humane Society’s People Animals Learning (PAL) Program. These children will demonstrate their skills during the PAL graduation on Friday, August 10, beginning at noon.

WHAT: PAL Graduation

WHEN: Friday, August 10, 2007, Noon to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208

WHY: Eleven Milwaukee-area students, ages 10 to 13, will graduate from the violence prevention PAL Program and show off their newly learned dog training skills to parents and friends.

PAL provides children with positive experiences working with animals. The kids learn the values of hard work, cooperation and compassion as they teach Wisconsin Humane Society dogs appropriate manners.

PAL is a nationally-recognized violence prevention program developed by the Wisconsin Humane Society to teach at-risk youth kindness and empathy.
