Giving Tuesday 2016

Thanks to a group of WHS friends, donations are being matched today, up to $8,000!

Chance had been left to die alone.  Injured and scared, the gentle pup was tossed into a dumpster like a piece of garbage. The world had not been kind to this 8-month-old sweetheart. Thankfully, a kind citizen found Chance and our friends at MADACC helped to bring him to the safety of the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Chance’s injuries were severe.  The deep wounds on his legs, paws, and belly indicated that he was likely dragged behind a car. We couldn’t imagine the pain and suffering he had endured.   Chance was immediately treated with IV fluids and medication to ease his pain, and his raw wounds were cleaned and bandaged.

For the past several weeks, Chance has been recovering at WHS.  Despite everything he has been through, his tail is still wagging and he’s always willing to share kisses with our staff and volunteers.  His wounds are healing along with his spirit. Looking into his soulful eyes, we see hope.

Shortly after he arrived at WHS, we began receiving phone calls from the Good Samaritan who came to Chance’s rescue, checking in to see how the poor pup was doing. The man even sent a brand new toy to brighten Chance’s days and he now sleeps with it at his side. You can imagine our delight when we found out this compassionate man also wanted to give Chance the ultimate gift: a loving home.

Chance’s story is a reminder of the more than 24,000 animals who receive lifesaving care every year at the Wisconsin Humane Society.  It’s your support and generosity that make it possible – thank you.

On this day of giving, we ask you to consider making a gift to support animals in need in our community. Click here to make your gift today or contact the Development Department at 414-431-6270.

Don't forget, donations made today will be matched up to $5,000, doubling your impact for animals in need!

UPDATE (3:15pm 11/29/16): When one of our friends heard about this campaign, she was compelled to anonymously match $3,000 of contributions made today! Combined with the other amazing supporters we told you about earlier, that’s now $8,000 that will be automatically doubled today! What a truly incredible community we serve. We can’t thank you all enough!

Thank you for celebrating the spirit of Giving Tuesday by making a real difference for animals.  We are grateful today, and every day, for your continued support and generosity.
