Abused Dog Seeking New, Kinder Home
MILWAUKEE – It’s unthinkable to imagine how badly little Trixy suffered before she was brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society. Trixy, a 2-year-old English Cocker Spaniel/Miniature Poodle mix, was surrendered to WHS after a woman acquired her on Craigslist and noticed that something was terribly wrong with her tail.
Trixy had a rubber band embedded at the base of her tail, likely a result from a home tail-docking attempt. A festering wound was causing her a great deal of pain, and it was badly infected and swollen. WHS veterinarians determined that a total amputation, right up to her tailbone, was necessary to save her.
Trixy was an ideal patient and the amputation surgery was a success. She healed in the intensive care unit of WHS and has made a full recovery. Thanks to the WHS veterinarians who treated Trixy, she looks forward to a healthier and happier future. She is now available for adoption.
Trixy is one of thousands of animals who receive excellent veterinary care at the Wisconsin Humane Society each year. Aside from the amputation surgery, Trixy was microchipped, spayed and vaccinated like all our animal guests. She goes home with 30 days of pet health insurance and a certificate for a free veterinary exam.
