My two favorite things about Aspen: Aspen loves to train and is so smart. She knows tub, crate, bed, sit, jump and so much more. She also LOVES to cuddle. She may try and steal your blankets in the middle of the night, but how can you so no to that face?
Contact Info: firstname.lastname@example.org
Current Location: Madison, WI
Is Aspen spayed or neutered? yes
Is Aspen up to date on vaccinations? yes
Why the animal is being rehomed: Unfortunately, she is not the best with children. We have a lot of nieces and nephews, and although most times she can be well-behaved with them, there are a few triggers that make her not like kids. She also has a short tolerance with certain dogs; sometimes she plays great, sometimes she doesn't.
What are your two favorite things about Aspen? Aspen loves to train and is so smart. She knows tub, crate, bed, sit, jump and so much more. She also LOVES to cuddle. She may try and steal your blankets in the middle of the night, but how can you so no to that face?
How long have you had Aspen? We have had for 2.5 years.
Where did you get Aspen? We got her from Shelter From The Storm.
Has Aspen ever bitten someone? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: Our little niece hugged her after taking a walk when I wasn't around, and unfortunately, Aspen does not like to have her personal space invaded. It did not require any hospital visits and was very minor, but we do not want to take any more chances with children.
Has Aspen lived with other animals? Yes
If yes to the above, which animals has Aspen lived with? When we adopted her she came from a home that fostered many dogs.
Has Aspen actively fought with other animals in the home? No
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: She is an only dog. She gets along with some dogs great, but others she is not so good with. It all depends on the temper of the dog, and Aspen's short fuse.
Does/did Aspen hide from other animals in the home? No
How does Aspen interact with animals outside of the home? She can sniff dogs on a walk and does not bark at all, but she can only sniff for a quick bit. Then she is ready to move on.
Are you requiring that Aspen not go into a family with certain types of pets? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain which types of pets you are restricting: She should be an only dog. We think she would be great with a pack of dogs, but we are not entirely sure.
Has Aspen lived with any children under 18? No
Does/did Aspen hide or avoid children in the home? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: She tries to avoid children, and does not usually get along with them because of her high-prey drive. She thinks they are little squirrels when they run around the yard. Yet, sometimes she runs around with them perfectly fine.
Does/did Aspen display any forms of aggression toward children in the home? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: She should not live with children. She is fine with children who are older, but only teens and older.
Are you requiring that Aspen not go into a family with children under a certain age? Yes
If yes to the above, please list your restrictions: Cannot go to home with children 15 and under.
Does Aspen have any fears? Aspen is fearful of little things, but she is also very curious. If a leaf blows by she may think it's an animal and try to "cutely" pounce on it. She is hesitant about strangers, but as long as she has structure on how to greet them she does fairly well. Usually, she ends up sleeping on our guests.
Aspen's overall activity level: Moderately active
How does Aspen usually get exercise? Daily walks, Playing in fenced-in yard, Playing indoors, Canine sports (agility, lure course, flyball, frisbee, etc),
What should the next family should know about Aspen: She is a phenomenal dog who is extremely intelligent. She loves clothes that just came out of the dryer, because she LOVES warm things. In the winter, she definitely prefers to have a little coat. She also loves walks and using her brain. She will try her best for you when you are training her and is a great trainer! At the same time, she also loves cuddling in bed. She rarely ever barks at anything and is completely house trained. She'll tell you when she wants to go out and goes potty on command. She truly is a great dog!
