Diary of a Bird Collision Monitor

During the spring migration season, WIngs incredibly dedicated Bird Collision Monitors patrolled downtown Milwaukee. Below is one Bird Collision Monitor's record of the spring migration season.

My spring monitoring of the MSOE library skywalk for collisions is essentially complete and here's what happened:

April 5 Brown Creeper, dead

May 6 Crow discovered eating a White-throated Sparrow

May 9 Two dead White-throated Sparrows

May 10 Another dead White-throated Sparrow and a stunned Nashville Warbler picked up. It struggled vigorously immediately, letting out awful shrieks (I wonder if they've ever been described or recorded), before I let it go. It flew off and landed just a bit unsteady in a tree.

May 20 Two dead male Blackburnian Warblers

May 22 Magnolia Warbler, dead

May 26 Red-eyed Vireo, dead
