Other Ways to Donate

Workplace Giving

Many employers sponsor annual workplace giving campaigns through which employees can elect to make payroll deductions to selected charities.  Others will make a gift in honor of an employee's volunteer service hours. There are many ways local businesses support the Wisconsin Humane Society. Ask your HR department if your company participates in these programs and if not, encourage your employer to give back through workplace giving. If you have any questions, please contact Billy Zakrzewski. Thank you for your support!

Matching Gifts

Many generous employers in the Milwaukee area encourage charitable contributions by matching your gift dollar for dollar. Companies such as Harley Davidson, Assurant Health, Johnson Controls and many others participate in matching gifts programs and make a positive impact in our community. Check with your company to find out if they offer this great opportunity!

Company Grants for Volunteer Service

Some employers will give grants to organizations where their employees volunteer. Ask your Human Resources department if this is available at your company and how you can take advantage of this opportunity to help us even more.

Does your company participate in United Way?

If your employer participates in a United Way campaign, you can support the Wisconsin Humane Society! WHS is not listed as a United Way agency, but you may select “Donors Choice” and designate your dollars by writing in “Wisconsin Humane Society” on your pledge form.

Work For a Government Agency?

If so, you may be able to give to WHS through payroll deduction in your Combined Giving Campaign. Encourage your co-workers to designate their pledge to WHS, too  -  oftentimes, the biggest reason people don’t give is that they aren’t asked. Find our organization information easily by looking under the “Community Shares” umbrella in the pledge brochure. Thank you!

Corporate Group Volunteer Opportunities

We are thankful for the many generous inquiries we receive from local businesses interested in volunteering. If your organization is interested in working with us, please review information about our corporate volunteering program here. Once your team has reviewed the information and are interested in moving forward, please fill out this survey to get started. A staff member will be in touch with you regarding what opportunities are currently available. Your company’s passion is critical to the work we do in the community and we are thankful for groups like yours who make our life-saving work possible!

Donate your cell phone!

Wondering what to do with your old cell phone?

Don’t throw it away! Your phone can help animals at the shelter.  The Wisconsin Humane Society participates in a cell phone recycling program. This program helps protect the environment by keeping these recyclable items out of landfills, while at the same time bringing in funds to help animals in our community.

WHS can earn up to $100 per phone! You can drop off your phone during our business hours. If you have any questions, please contact our Development Department at 414-431-6270 or email.

Sponsor animal care

From food to vaccines, collars to beds, medical care to behavioral support… this work is critical to homeless animals in our community, but the expenses add up quickly. Please consider sponsoring some of the costs of care for animals at WHS!

Recycle for cash in Milwaukee and Door County!

You can save animals and the environment at the same time.

You would be amazed at the things you have laying around the home, basement, and garage that can be recycled for cash! The Wisconsin Humane Society and Action Recyclers have teamed up to give you the chance to donate your scrap metal and help animals at the same time. Here is the process for Milwaukee donations:

  • Collect any unwanted items and bring them to Action Recyclers.  Please do not bring these prohibited items.
  • When you drop off your items, inform Action Recyclers that you want your donation to go towards the Wisconsin Humane Society.
  • Upon the completion of the donation, you will retrieve your voucher indicating the value and the type of item(s). This voucher may be kept for your personal records.

Drop off your items at:
