Other Types of Donations

The Wisconsin Humane Society provides lifesaving services to thousands of homeless, sick and injured animals every year. This important work is funded through donations from generous individuals just like you. You can help in many simple everyday ways that are sure to make a big difference!

Pave the Way!
Be part of the Wisconsin Humane Society's Sidewalk of the Stars. Bordering the walkways of the main entrance are personalized bricks featuring tributes to well-loved people and animals. The bricks provide a great opportunity to honor or memorialize a family member, friend or animal companion while supporting the lifesaving work of WHS. Bricks come in two sizes:

  • A gift of $250.00 will fund a 4" x 8" personalized brick, and
  • A gift of $500.00 will fund an 8" x 8" personalized brick.

You may pay in one contribution or arrange for payment in four, quarterly installments. To fill out a brick order form, click here. After you have submitted your completed form, you will be contacted by the WHS Development Department for us to retrieve payment and to review the order form. You may also call us directly at (414) 431-6162 to order a brick or to have your questions answered!

Donate Your Auto for Animals!
Are you thinking about trading in your car, boat or RV? Why not donate it instead? The Wisconsin Humane Society has a vehicle donation program that allows you to receive a tax deduction and help animals at the same time. WHS will sell the vehicle and use the proceeds to help animals. Vehicle donations to WHS are 100% tax deductible. For more information, see the Frequently Asked Questions. To donate your vehicle, simply fill out a form by clicking here and someone will contact you.

Pick 'n Save Advantage Card
Use your Pick n' Save Advantage card and help animals! The Pick n' Save "We Care" program contributes to the Wisconsin Humane Society based on the number of our supporters who sign up and shop! If you already have an Advantage card and have not designated WHS, simply stop at the customer service desk at your Pick n' Save and fill out a new form! The time it takes to sign up will mean additional lifesaving dollars for the animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society. Sign up using the Wisconsin Humane Society's program: code #941680!

Schwartz Gives Back Program

You might also be a bookworm and spend time in bookstores like Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops. Schwartz donates a percentage of sales to help animals through the Schwartz Gives Back program. Be sure to select the Wisconsin and Ozaukee Humane Societies as your charity of choice.

Donate Your Used Cell Phones and Empty Laser and Inkjet Printer Cartridges!
Help us save animals by recycling your brand name used ink and toner cartridges as well as your old cell phones! You'll be doing your part to help create a cleaner environment while helping the Wisconsin and Ozaukee Humane Society save lives!

Workplace Giving
The Wisconsin Humane Society is part of a workplace giving organization called Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee. Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee (formerly ACHOICE) is Milwaukee’s only workplace giving federation with an emphasis on Social Change, Economic Justice and Environmental Awareness – with its focus completely on conditions in metropolitan Milwaukee. Founded in 1981, its mission is to build a community that ensures social equity and a healthy environment by connecting donors with issues they are passionate about. Its agencies address a range of issues including: animal welfare, crime and drug abuse, racism, sexism, homophobia, unemployment, the environment, urban violence, homelessness, civil liberties, housing, voter education, child abuse, needs of the elderly and the education of our children.

Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee formerly participated in United Way’s Donor Choice program. As of Fall 2006, Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee started running their own workplace giving campaigns and no longer participate in United Way’s Donor Choice program. Therefore, it is not possible to donate to the Wisconsin Humane Society through Donor Choice. However, Community Shares does participate in the Federal, State and University, City, County, Milwaukee Public Schools, or MATC, employees’ work place giving campaigns that are administered by United Way. As a result, funds donated by these workers through the Combined Federal, State, and local campaigns can be designated to Wisconsin Humane Society through Community Shares. Employees of these agencies can find a list of Community Shares Agencies in the Campaign brochures provided by their employer.

The following list of companies may also be holding a Community Shares workplace giving campaign. For more information about how your company can participate in Community Shares, email or call Ellen Clark at (414) 431-6106. Please be aware that some of these companies require employees to contact their HR department for a Community Shares pledge form.

Work For a Government Agency?

If you work in one of the following government agencies or school district offices, you can give to WHS through payroll deduction in your Combined Giving Campaign (campaign dates listed below). Please ask your co-workers to designate their pledge to WHS through payroll deduction. The biggest reason people don’t give is that they aren’t asked. Please help support us by reminding your co-workers about these campaigns. They can find our organization easily by looking under the “Community Shares” umbrella in their pledge brochure Community Shares is the first umbrella group listed in most of the brochures this year. Thank you!
