Be an “Angel for Animals” this holiday season

All major area animal shelters join forces to help animals

MILWAUKEE –  The Wisconsin Humane Society is participating in a new Milwaukee-area campaign, “MECA's Angels for Animals Holiday Tree Giving,” sponsored by the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals (MECA)  and Animal Fairy Charities.

The public is encouraged to visit any of the Wisconsin Humane Society’s three locations or any of the participating animal shelters from December 1 through December 31 to choose a special ornament from the Angels for Animals holiday tree. Ornaments can be purchased for $20.00 each, with all proceeds going to the individual shelter where that ornament was created. Best of all, each ornament will also include a wish list item for those who wish to do more.

“We are so grateful to MECA for inviting us to participate in this campaign,” said Angela Speed, director of communications at WHS. “Our amazing volunteers have created beautiful, handcrafted ornaments that will help support animals in need this holiday season.”

Participants include MECA, the Wisconsin Humane Society, the Humane Animal Welfare Society in Waukesha (HAWS), Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) and the Elmbrook Humane Society. Each organization will feature their own Angels for Animals holiday tree with ornaments crafted by shelter volunteers.
