Partnership Programs

The Wisconsin Humane Society is honored to partner with COA Youth and Family Services Goldin Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Milwaukee to provide programming for the young people they serve. Through positive, hands-on learning experiences, children develop empathy, compassion, and respect for living beings and form stronger bonds with animals and the people in their lives.

COA Partnership

The Wisconsin Humane Society partners with COA Youth and Family Services Goldin Center, a community organization that is located in the zip code that we serve through our Pets for Life outreach program, to create meaningful change for both animals and young people. While our Pets for Life team provides door-to-door outreach and access to pet care services in the zip code where the COA Goldin Center is located, our Youth Programs team engages young people in the community.  Our work with young people will build a relationship with our organization and mission, creating sustainable community change.

We provide afterschool programing at COA’s Goldin Center, and the kids at COA are able to visit our Milwaukee Campus, as well.  We provide information about animal safety, animals’ physical and emotional needs, and resources that the Wisconsin Humane Society provides to support both people and animals in our community.  Students take a behind-the-scenes tour, meet staff members to learn about their career, learn about backyard wildlife, and, of course, meet animals. We provide each student with a voucher for free spay/neuter for their family’s pets through our Pets for Life program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Partnership

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) provides children facing adversity with professionally supported one-to-one relationships with adult mentors. The Wisconsin Humane Society hosts BBBS matches (“Bigs” and “Littles”) to evenings of activities that introduce them to WHS and variety of animals, including dogs, cats, wildlife, and more. The program is designed to help children learn more about animals and, through a fun evening together, build a stronger bond with their mentor.
